Embrace Our Place

Our Community Foundation’s Embrace Our Place strategy fosters collaboration, idea sharing, and inspired planning to elevate daily life. We envision a future in which Quality of Life design principles and practices make our county’s environment clean, safe, attractive, walkable, and vibrant for people of all ages and backgrounds. We invite you, as a member of the public, to become active in community leadership and volunteerism. We also encourage and equip public officials, nonprofit directors, and business leaders to hone their skills, knowledge, and networks; listen to their constituents; and make sound decisions about civic matters.
The Talent Pathway prepares and inspires community members to use their talents to elevate daily life, civic leadership, and business leadership across Hancock County. The full suite of courses is called the Talent Pathway. Some courses are more advanced than others. Participants may start with the courses that best align with their professional and volunteer roles and experience.

A combination of in-person and virtual experiences provides the important fundamentals and best practices of nonprofit board leadership.
In partnership with Indianapolis-area consulting agency Hedges, the Community Foundation will offer Mission Masters, an exciting module of the Talent Pathway. Participants will engage in virtual workshops as part of Hedges’ Lead With Purpose curriculum, and they will meet in-person to network and apply learning to our local Hancock County context. Topics covered include effective staff and board roles, setting vision and strategy, fundraising, and activating committees.
The program will take place over the course of 4 months (August-November 2025). This program is a $1,200 value, and it is offered by the Community Foundation at no cost to your organization or the participant.
